City of Elko, Nevada, Building Department has for years maintained an environment of both beauty and safety within the community of residential homes and commercial buildings by strict compliance with the adopted building and fire codes. Inspections of all new projects are mandatory, along with any addition or remodel work done to existing buildings.
In order for a new project to get under way, the owner is responsible for retaining the services of a Nevada State registered Design Professional and submitting the correct number of completed sets of plans to our office along with the proper application pages filled out completely.

Construction professionals are issued an Inspection Record card at the beginning of their project with the City approved job site set of plans. These items must be available on site during inspections. Prior to a building being occupied, the building department and other applicable departments will verify compliance of the approved codes and documents. A Certificate of Occupancy is then issued by the Building Department upon completion of the project prior to building occupancy.
