The Business License Department assists the general public in all aspects of business, liquor, gaming and brothel licensing.  This includes the licensing of special events, temporary merchants, peddlers, concessionaires and parades within the City limits.  We encourage new business in the City and are committed to ensuring the customer receives the proper license and is aware of the ordinances pertaining to their license.

Q.   Who needs an Elko City Business License?
A.   If you are conducting business inside the City limits, whether or not your actual business is located within the City of Elko, you must have a license.  

Q.    How do I obtain the forms for a business license?
A.     These forms may be obtained from City Hall, 1751 College Ave. Elko, Nevada, or by mail or fax.  In addition, the Business License package may be obtained by the above listed hyperlinks.

Q.    Can I have a business in my home?
A.    Yes.  However, if your home is located in the Elko City limits, you must first apply and be approved by the Elko City Planning Department for a home occupation permit before a business license can be issued.

Q.    How long is my business license valid?
A.      Licenses are valid for one year after the issue date. A renewal notice will be mailed to you, however, if you do not receive the notice it is your responsibility to renew the license.  Failure to timely renew your license may result in a 25% penalty after 30 days and 50% after 60 days.
